As the home of millions of retirees and the host to 38 million visitors annually, Florida has a thriving service economy. In Florida, as in other states, medical and other health services account for the largest share of earned income from nonfinancial services. Earned income from hotels and other lodgings as well as amusements and recreation is exceptionally high in Florida. Both categories contribute greatly to the economy of the Orlando area, the home of Walt Disney World, the state's most popular attraction, as well as several other theme parks. Tourism also contributes substantially to the economy of southwest Florida. Florida has more lawyers per 1,000 residents than most states. This ratio is especially high in the state's largest metropolitan areas. Leon County also has a high ratio because so many lawyers are employed by the state or are engaged in administrative law or lobbying.
